The studio
Betafisch is an independent game studio founded in 2026 by Ed Engelbrecht — employee zero, and proud of it. The name is a promise. A betta, the Siamese fighting fish, is small but impossible to ignore: striking to look at, sharp-minded, fiercely competitive, and remarkably adaptable — it makes a home in shallow, still water and can even breathe air to get by where other fish can't.
We build games the same way — bold, polished, and made to punch far above their size. No committees, no filler. Just carefully made games that bring a little more play into the world, one title at a time.
How we work
If it isn't fun in your hands, it doesn't ship. Every feature has to earn its place by being genuinely fun to play — not just clever on paper.
Small scope, high craft. We sweat the tiny details — the game feel, the timing, the juice — that quietly make a game feel alive.
